Youth Group

Establishment

Hevrat Shalom’s youth group was recently established to create a social atmosphere for our younger members. Activities include, but are not limited to, movies, holiday parties, community outreach, hiking, biking and more.

Hevrat Shalom Youth Choir

Our Associate Rabbi and Religious School Director, Rabbi Arnold Saltzman, who is Cantor Emeritus at Adas Israel Congregation in DC, is forming a Hevrat Shalom Youth Choir. Participation is open to students from 7 to 17.  The Hevrat Shalom Youth Choir will participate at the Israel @ 60 Concert at Strathmore Hall. Thirty congregations from the Reform Movement will be participating in this gala event. This is a wonderful opportunity for a memorable experience for your student. Rabbi Saltzman has already spoken to several students about participating and if you would like your student to be included, please email Rabbi Saltzman at rabbi2b@aol.comThe Israel @ 60 Concert at Strathmore Hall will take place in early March 2008.

Volunteers Needed

We encourage parents to join their kids in the fun. As always, volunteers are needed to support our youth group activities. If you would like to join us or have a great idea for an event, please call 301-540-0733 or email youthgroup@cavtel.net.

Youth Group President Appointed

Congratulations to Rachel Greene, who has been appointed President of Hevrat Shalom's Youth Group.  Rachel will be assisting with planning the events, communications, and growing the group's membership.  Rachel is a very dedicated and goal oriented individual, and I know she will be instrumental in launching many successful events in the months ahead.  Needless to say, Rachel's task will not be an easy one.  I encourage the Hevrat Shalom members of all ages to offer their support by volunteering their time to help, strengthen and guide our new youth group.
